I imagine this is going to be more of the same, just without the terrible film/food pun. I might even ship over some of my favourite old posts, seeing that all the links on the old place are well and truly buggered. In some ways it's a shame, but in other ways you could argue that The Lambshank Redemption served its purpose and, like Dr Who, it's time to regenerate. The similarities don't end there either. Much of this will probably be slightly disappointing, massively overwritten and disappear up-its-own-arse. Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week...
What was interesting though was while sort of mourning the old blog, I went back to many of the ancient, original posts and they seemed to have an energy to them that I think, to some extent, I've lost. I guess we all have a tendency to overthink things and, for all my comments about having no idea about who was reading the blog and that I was just writing for me, I sense that I probably wasn't and that there was clearly some pandering to the crowd. Is that inevitable ? Probably. But I'm aiming to take that discovery as a good, swift kick up the bottom and see if I can't claw some of that energy / attitude / whatever-it-was back. Time will tell, I suppose.
Why this picture for this post? No idea. I just always liked this picture, I suppose. I could come up with some tortured metaphor that this is a fresh start like, er, breakfast but, frankly, that would be dangling sphericals. I just like the picture and there are few food things sexier than a golden runny yolk.
On that point, the old Simple Pleasures posts are DEFINITELY making a comeback, probably with their own heading up there and everything. The plan is to reshoot them in the coming months - I've been saving for a proper DSLR - and make them a more regular thing. The fact that it vaguely justifies the eating of more bacon, cheese on toast, black jelly babies and, yes, runny poached eggs is just a bonus. Ahem.
